Start your day with an Ashdene House Breakfast served in the conservatory. Look out over the attractive, secluded garden while you enjoy it. We source the very best quality local and Scottish products available from as close to home as possible and everything is freshly cooked to order. We include in our Breakfast Menu : A selection of fruit juices and cold cereals Traditional hot Scottish porridge made with Scottish grown and milled oatmeal from Hamlyns of Scotland When in season we use a variety of soft fruit in our fresh fruit salad from farms in East Lothian and Tayside and apples from our garden. We source tomatoes, mushrooms and herbs whenever possible, from farms in East Lothian and Fife as well as herbs from our garden. We use a variety of dairy products from Grahams Dairy and Yester Farm Dairy in East Lothian, Highland Fine Cheeses, and Lockerbie Creamery. Our Smoked fish dish of the day is made with fish supplied by Clark Brothers of Mussleburgh, smoked in their own smoke house e.g. Smoked Haddock, Honey roast hot smoked Salmon, Cold smoked brandy cured smoked Salmon Scottish free range eggs are sourced from farms on the outskirts of the city and can be eaten with breakfast meat products (smoked bacon, pork sausages, black pudding) which are produced by Matthew Allan of Falkirk and Edinburgh Bacon Company. Our guests love our Vegetarian Haggis by Macsweens of Edinburgh, always needing to know where to buy some to take home! Oatcakes by Stoats and Nairns of Edinburgh can be enjoyed with cheese or preserves. All our bread is made on the premises as well as our home made preserves. We use Fairtrade Breakfast tea, coffee and Drinking Chocolate and have decaffeinated and organic fruit/herb teas available. Conservatory Breakfast Room Some special dietary needs can be catered for e.g. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, if advance notice is given to the proprietors. There are local shops and restaurants which cater for special dietary needs, should you require a snack or meal close-by.
